What are New York City’s Cigar Bar Hot Spots?
Visiting New York City? Everyone needs to their fix of the Big Apple every now and then, so if you’re headed that way any time soon, and are looking for a good stogie bar, check out the following hot spots geared toward the cigar connoisseur:
Club Macanudo – Club Macanudo, located in the Upper East Side, describes itself as an “elegant oasis. . . outfitted with rich mahogany furniture, buttery-soft leather chairs and comfortable sofas. . .” Stop right there. You had us at “buttery-soft.” Here you can also lease a private humidor — or rather, “apply” to lease one, if you are so lucky, complete with a personalized brass plaque. Club Macanudo has an extensive cigar menu, as well as food (warm chocolate truffles sound good to you?) and drink selection (they say their 63rd Street Martini is “world famous“).
Merchants NY Cigar Bar – This cigar bar describes itself as a lush, inviting place to smoke your favorite cigar. The lounge is well-appointed, they say, with “rich carpet and plush furniture with hints of an English Gentlemen’s Club and Victorian influences,” which gives it a “sense of elegance and luxury of a bygone era.” If a warm fireplace also appeals to you, Merchants NY Cigar Bar keeps theirs lit throughout the year, supplying an “ambiance as well as a warm relaxed setting that beckons you” to partake in a drink and a cigar. You can find this one in the Upper East Side as well.
Beekman Bar and Books – When you visit Beekman’s, you’re visiting one of a family of cigar bars in New York City and Europe. The Beekman’s location is on 1st Avenue and 50th Street, while its other NYC establishments can be found in the West Village (Hudson Bar and Books) and the Upper East Side (Lexington Bar and Books). And if you happen to be in the Czech Republic, stop by it’s sister bars, Týnská Bar and Books and Mánesova Bar and Books.
The Velvet Cigar Lounge – The name alone conjures up a feeling of relaxation, doesn‘t it? Delta Sky Magazine says this lounge located in the East Village is “unique because you can bring in your own beverage of choice as you sit back, relax and take in the aroma a finely rolled cigar.” Meanwhile, BlackBook Magazine describes it as “tiny, cozy space finished in gentlemanly wood and leather.”
These are just a sampling of cigar bars in New York City, of course. Tell us — where do you go to enjoy a good cigar in Gotham?
